The first centre of positron emission tomography (PET Centre) will appear in N.N. Alexandrov National Cancer Centre of Belarus. It will be the largest centre in Eastern Europe.
Positron Emission Tomography, or PET imaging, is a technology that painlessly examines the body’s chemistry and gives information about the function of organs and cells. By providing information about the chemical reactions of the body, PET scans often detect abnormalities before other imaging tests such as CT (Computed Tomography) or MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scans. Some scientific studies suggest PET has enhanced sensitivity so it can reveal the presence of an abnormal mass and also indicate whether the mass is benign or malignant, based on metabolic function.
PET Centre helps to organize treatment of patients, reduce the economic costs of drug therapy and eliminate treatment abroad.
The largest foreign medical institutions have already used positron emission tomography methods in their activity. Now PET Centre appears in Minsk.

Construction and equipping of PET Centre is a great challenge for our country. That is why equipment for the center must have specific requirements.
Foreign unitary enterprise “Medindustria Service” as one of the leading manufacturers of medical equipment and furniture has developed and produced a number of special medical furniture for the centre of positron emission tomography.
Now supply and installation of medical equipment is carried out. Opening of the first PET Centre in Belarus is planned late September.
